(02) The Village Greenhouse
CPH Village Vesterbro is a student housing complex focussed on green and sustainable living. Within the student community are extant spaces for planting and gardening which fall into disuse throughout the colder months. Along with a commitee of students, Hangin proposed a permanent greenhouse structure to capture the winter sun and provide gardening space and refuge from the long Danish winter. The greenhouse was contructed with the repurposed material from the Roskilde Festival project, accompanied by a corrugated plastic cladding, in the creation of a 2 x 2 x 2m cube. Co-designed with villagers over a weekend long working bee the entire process of site analysis, design, and contruction was an ongoing collaborative process to provide a tailored solution towards the needs of its future users.
