(06) Vélingara X URBAN95 Urban-ecosystem for children

The design of an urban analysis and proposal happened alongside the municipality of Vélingara, Senegal. Hangin co-founder Pablo Lasso facilitated the Municipality’s participation in the LSE Cities Urban 95 Academy, in partnership with the Peace Corps. Thanks to the local community’s participation, Véligara's only public park is now fitted with a vernacular sandpit, a beautiful mural, and 15 new drought-resistant trees!

Hangin assisted local stakeholders in facilitating a community building workshop establishing an urban ecosystem for children. The space will host talks about nutrition, breastfeeding, baby vaccination, caretaker mental health, and will offer play and rest.
